Golf isn’t generally seen as a high-impact sport however, the body is placed under repetitive strain which commonly causes injuries. I’ve seen this first-hand through friends and family members who seemed to always have recurring pain or injury. Identifying and addressing the underlying cause of pain will help not only treat golfing injuries but also reduce their likelihood of recurring. I will use a golf specific assessment tool which is a system for assessing and categorising movement patterns in order to appropriately direct exercise and manual therapy. As with any injury, it is important to take a holistic approach to assessment and treatment, this will take into account your lifestyle, sleeping patterns and positions as well as the body-swing connection.
